Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army, overseas, during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He appreciated the opportunity to participate in an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. Joe worked for Studebaker Corp. for 22 years, Clark Equipment for 10 years, then 11 years for Kordell. After retiring he then went to work at the Antique Party Hall in Niles, MI. Joe was a Parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post 357 for 72 years where he served as the District and Post Commander, Northern Vice Commander and held other various positions. Joe was also a member of the 40-8, Military Honors Park, and the West Side Memorial Day Committee. He enjoyed working in his yard, feeding the birds, playing cards, and working with tools. Joe was very proficient with tools and not afraid to tackle any project. He designed and built many wood projects for his family, such as barn quilts, furniture, table decorations, cabinets, and corn hole boards. He collected Budweiser Steins and various beer and liquor memorabilia. Joe loved spending time with his family, whether in his personally designed basement or backyard playing games. His famous line “the bus is leaving” has now become, “the bus has left for the last time”. Joe will be greatly missed and forever loved.
