Zbigniew “Tony” Sirko

Zbigniew “Tony” Sirko, 83 years old, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend where he said he was “ready to meet the Lord”.

Tony was born on March 5, 1942, in Libicz, Poland to the late Peter and Agnes (Nedzweski) Sirko. On July 6, 1963, at St. Monicas in Mishawaka, Tony married the love of his life, Joyce Deal, who survives. Along with his parents, Tony is preceded in death by his brother, Edward Sirko, his sister Stephanie (Stanley) Golebiowski and dear son, Brian Sirko.

Along with his loving wife, Tony is survived by his brother and best friend, Alex Sirko.  Tony is also survived by his sons, Bruce (Michele) Sirko and Bennett (Helene) Sirko who loved him dearly; grandchildren, Melissa Jo Tetzlaff, Tiffany Higgenbothem, Autumn Sirko, Cody Sirko, Aaron Sirko, Shane Sirko, Benjamin Sirko, Brady Sirko, Lucy Sirko; 7 great-grandchildren.

Tony worked as a Machine Operator at South Bend Lathe for 35 years before retiring in 2001. After retirement, he enjoyed taking care of the animals at home as well as their property. He was also a faithful parishioner at St. Jude Catholic Church and loved to volunteer his time to serve at church. Tony was often heard saying his week could not begin without first going to church.

Tony loved sharing time with family and friends.  He was very generous at telling funny stories from years past and making everyone around him feel like family.  He enjoyed a good ‘get-together’ such as a campout at Joyce and Tony’s home, often referred to as ‘The Farm’ and would always welcome a cookout to go along with a football game or NASCAR race. He relished spending time with family and friends. Those same family members and friends will dearly miss him.

Friends and family will be received Monday, June 30, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., South Bend.  A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 am Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the funeral home, with a one-hour visitation prior to the service. Burial will follow immediately to St. Joseph Cemetery.
