Walter Carl Kroll, III, 54 years old, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023. He was born on October 22, 1968 in South Bend to Walter Kroll and Geri Kroll.
Left to cherish the memory of Walter are his son, Noah Kroll of Tamarac, FL; his parents, Geri Kroll of South Bend and Walter (Claudia Alkire) Kroll of Jenson Beach, FL; the mother of his son, Debra Cavazzi of Tamarac, FL; his sister, Charlotte (Jason Bradberry) Kroll Dean of Fort Lauderdale, FL; his niece, Presley Belle Dean of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; his uncles, Frederick (Mari) Kroll of Melbourne FL, Tykey (Laina) Niedbalski of South Bend; his aunt, Gail Kroll of South Bend; and his cousins, John (Janice) Radzikowski of Walla Walla, WA, Kelly (Evan) Blatt of West Palm, FL, and Jennifer (Matt) Burks of Granger, IN.
Walter grew up playing and watching many sports. His first experience with this was playing golf at Studebaker and other golf courses in the South Bend area. He played football for St. Joseph High School, where he graduated. He attended college at Indiana State University and then attended Ball State University. Walter’s lifelong passion for sports was something he shared with his family. For periods of his life, he was a regular swimmer and often worked on boats, obtaining a boat captain’s license along the way. Whether it was at the beach, pool, or on a boat, Walter enjoyed the water's aura. He was known to be a free spirit and enjoyed being able to converse and joke with everyone. Walter would tell you himself, he was the type of person that could BS with the best of them! You could place a person who looked like they were from another planet in front of him, and he would find a way to spark a conversation. Anywhere he went, whether it was the beach, a sports bar, or a grocery store, he could communicate with people, and they would never forget it. Walter was not an ordinary individual; however, he was never afraid to be himself. This fact was often part of his charm.
Friends and family may visit from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 16, 2023 in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. In honor of Walter, the family is asking for everyone to wear their favorite Notre Dame Apparel for the visitation.
