Walter Turner, Jr., 57, departed this life on June 20, 2024 in Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Walter, son of the late Walter Turner Sr. and Florine Turner Mitchell, was born on November 5, 1966 in South Bend. He was a graduate of Washington High School. He was a member of the Masons and the Eastern Star organizations. Walter has been gainfully employed all of his adult life, working for NIPSCO, Forrest River, Dexter Axel, Bull Moose, and was currently employed at Elkhart Brass. Walter loved the Lord. He served on the Usher Board at Bethlehem Baptist Church, then Greater Friendship and Progressive. After proudly and humbly serving the Lord, Walter's next greatest services were to the Masons and to his family. Walter loved and honored his parents and his son, Isaiah.
Left to cherish Walter’s memory is his son, Isaiah Turner & Isaiah’s mom, Lorrajean Gleva; Aunt, Amanda Griffin & Uncle, Charles Griffin; Isaiah's Godmother, Joy Middlebrook; a so connected cousin, Elizabeth & her husband, Joe Sessom, Sr.; lifetime friend, Algerine “Al” Henderson; and numerous much loved other family members. Walter, your family thanks you for your contagious smile and heart that always wanted to bless someone.
Friends and family are welcome to visit from 4:00PM-6:00PM, Friday, July 5, 2024, at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd, South Bend, IN 46619. Condolences may be made at sjfh.net
“Life’s Clock”
The clock of life is wound but once and no man has the power,
To tell just where the hands will stop at a late or early hour.
To lose one’s wealth is sad indeed, to lose one’s health is more
To lose one’s soul is such a loss, as no man can restore
The present is ours only, live, love and work with a will
Place no faith in tomorrow, for the clock may then be still.
Love Your Cousin,
Liz Sessom
