Walter A. Bartkowiak, 89, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Story Point Assisted Living.
Walt was born on September 02, 1934 in Pulaski, WI to the late Walter J. and Katherine (Smurawa) Bartkowiak. On July 20, 1957, Walt married his loving wife, Marilyn (Berryman); she preceded him death in 2020. He is also preceded in death by his sisters, Lillian Wengrzyn, Virginia McKeefry, Othelia Tillie Harrison, and Gladys Kirby; and brother, Richard Bartkowiak.
Left to cherish the memory of Walt are his children, Diane (Larry) Kiles, David (Joyce) Bartkowiak, Tim (Jean) Bartkowiak, Katherine (Steven) Garber, Amy (Stephen) Carney; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Walt graduated from GMI with his mechanical engineering degree, then went on to Western Ontario University to earn his MBA. He worked in the automotive industry for 42 years; the last 15 years were spent in executive management. Walt was a parishioner of St. Jude Catholic Church, a member of the World-Wide Marriage Encounter, Knights of Columbus, and a 50-year member of SAE. He enjoyed sailing the Great Lakes, taking cruises, traveling, and spending winters in Florida at Marco Island. Walt cherished time spent with his family above all. He will be greatly missed by many.
Visitation will be 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, January 23, 2024 in St. Joseph Funeral Home beginning with a Rosary at 2:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Wednesday, January 24, 2024 with visitation 1 hour prior, in St. Jude Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
