Family First ALWAYS, family was the heart of Val’s life. Known for her warmth and inclusivity, Val made everyone feel like family, whether by blood, marriage, or friendship. Her home was always open, and her heart even more so.
Val loved supporting her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in every way possible. She attended as many activities as possible. She cherished celebrating life’s big milestones and found joy even in the simplest moments, such her cherished annual Christmas weekend in Chicago with her daughters and granddaughters (over 21, of course!).
Val embraced life to the fullest, especially when it came to traveling with her family and friends. From Poland to Alaska, her adventures spanned the globe, but she always brought home the best stories, laughter, and cherished memories.
She also had a knack for bringing people together, whether at her weekly card club or time shared with longtime friends. No celebration was complete without a toast of Fireball or Rum Chata, to keep the giggles and blessings flowing.
Val's life was a beautiful testament to love, dedication, and hospitality. As a young girl, Val, was a member of the Drum and Bugle Corp. and performed at Soldier Field. Val and Ben worked alongside each other at Sal Langer’s Grocery, where they met. Later in life, she was devoted to serving the public of St. Joseph County. Her dedication and warmth made her a cherished colleague and advocate for her community.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and open arms, reminding all to cherish one another and to celebrate life, even if there's "nothing to celebrate." Val will forever be remembered for her thoughtful traditions, like waving and blowing kisses from the porch until your car was out of sight—and her unwavering reminders of love: "I love you more."
