Tomas Vargas. Jr.

Tomas Vargas, Jr., 34 years old, tragically passed away on June 18, 2023 in a car accident in Illinois. Tomas was born on August 19, 1988 in Chicago, IL to Tomas Vargas, Sr. and Leticia (Ramirez) Venancio, both survive.

Along with his loving parents, those left to cherish their memories of Tomas are his children, Tomas Itzak Vargas, G'angelo Vargas, Jesus Martinez, Rosalinda Martinez, Jazmin Martinez, and Manuel Rodriguez; his siblings, Cristian Venancio, Cesar Vargas, Adrian Vargas, Anai Vargas, Eduardo Vargas, Gerardo Vargas, Fabian Vargas, Antonio Venancio, and Mark Venancio; his step-mother, Paula Rodarte, and his step-father, Marco Venancio. Tomas is preceded in death by his sister, Sonia Vargas.

Tomas’ life was surrounded by sports. He loved to watch Soccer, Basketball, Baseball, practically anything with competition. His favorite teams to watch were Cruz Azul, the Chicago Bulls and the Chicago White Sox. As much as he loved to watch sports, he also loved to coach. He coached children’s soccer teams at LaSalle Park for the La Liga Del Barrio, where his most recent team was LA. Tomas was also a very caring and compassionate person. He was always trying to help those around him and tried to put a smile on everyone’s faces. Above all, he loved his family – especially his children. He displayed exceptional patience on and off the field and was a great role model for the children he coached and raised. Tomas will be truly missed by all.

Friends and family will be received from 1:00pm-6:00pm EDT, Saturday, June 24, 2023 at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S Mayflower Rd South Bend, IN 46619, with a funeral service starting at 6:00pm EDT. Burial will be held at 1:00pm CDT, Monday, June 26, 2023 at St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery, 4401 W 111th St, Chicago, IL 60655.
