Thaddeus “Ted” S. Cichos, Jr., 88, passed away on May 31, 2026 at St. Paul's in South Bend.
Ted was born on April 10, 1938 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Thaddeus and Mary (Koperski) Cichos Sr. On April 15, 1961, Ted married the love of his life, Judith (Nemeth) Cichos, she preceded him in death in June, 2020. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Joe Cichos.
Left to cherish their memories of Ted are his son, Tim (Linda) Cichos, daughter, Jill (Steve) Popielski; grandchildren, Derek (Kimberly) Cichos, Mark (Yeraldin) Cichos, Jessica (Matt) Blankenship, and Kassidy (Brock) Casey; great-grandchildren, Mark 2 Cichos, Esmeralda Cichos, Finnley Blankenship, and Marlowe Blankenship: sisters, Carol (Bob) Berta, Margie (Dave) Guzicki, and brother, Danny Cichos.
Ted proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1956-1959. He worked for the United States Postal Service until retiring in 1997. Ted enjoyed bowling, was a 4-H Leader and a member of the Greene Township Lions Club. He was a diehard Cubs fan. Judy and Ted loved throwing amazing parties with family and friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and cherished being able to meet his great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10:30AM-12:00PM, with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 12:00PM, on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 56405 Mayflower Rd South Bend, IN 46619. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in South Bend, IN.
