Sandra L. (Tennis) Wacunas

Sandra L. Wacunas, 87, peacefully passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

Sandra was born on April 2, 1936 in South Bend, to the late Harold and Emily (Nadratowski) Tennis. On May 29, 1970, Sandra married the love of her life, Robert R. Wacunas, who preceded her in death last year. She is also preceded in death by her son, Garry Chadwell; and son-in-law, Dave Myers.

Sandra is survived by her daughters, Pamela Myers, Linda (Dave) Weist, and Michele (Monty) Layne; her step-son, Dwayne Wacunas; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; 12 great-great-great grandchildren; and her daughter-in-law, Jill Chadwell.

Sandra worked as a Network Analyst for 25 years at Bendix before retirement. She was a member of the BCCA and NABA collectors, as well as for the Hoosier Chapter. Sandra loved anything that had to do with Notre Dame. She loved watching golf, playing cards, going to the casino, and hosting garage sales. Above all, she loved her family. She loved spending time and hosting as many family events as possible. She was the glue that held this family together, and will be severely missed.

Friends and family will be received 11:00 am to 2:00 pm Monday, February 26, 2024 at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 South Mayflower South Bend, IN 46619 with a funeral service to begin at 2:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
