Salvador Julian Florez, 75 years old, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, July 3, 2026 at his residence in South Bend.
Salvador was born on July 11, 1950 in Harlingen, TX to the late Julian Florez and Rosa Garcia. On April 26, 1980, Salvador married the love of his life, Mary A Salazar, who survives.
Along with his loving wife, Mary, Salvador is survived by his children, Lydia Florez and Raul (Sabra) Florez; step-daughters, Veronica (Terry) Burton, Victoria (Amy) Nevarez, and Valarie Nevarez; 16 Grandchildren; 8 Great-Grandchildren; siblings, Francisca Arambula, Julio Flores, Norma Yzaguirre, Romelia Florez, Leticia Florez, Jacqueline Florez, and Gerardo Florez. Salvador is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Rolando Florez.
Salvador was a proud Vietnam veteran and a true United States Marine whose strength, integrity, and unwavering sense of duty remained with him throughout his life. An excellent mechanic, he had a remarkable talent for working on cars and took great pride in doing every job to perfection. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and spending time with his beloved cats, but his greatest joy was being with his family. Salvador was known as a fair and dependable man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Above all, he deeply loved his wife, Mary, and cherished every member of his family, leaving them with countless memories of his kindness, dedication, and steadfast love.
Visitation for Salvador will be held from 12:00pm - 5:00pm Sunday July 12, 2026 at St. Joseph Funeral Home. Prayers and a Time of Sharing will be held at 1:00pm Monday, July 13, 2026 with an hour of visitation held prior all at St. Joseph Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in South Bend with a dinner following the burial.
