Rose "Sweetie" Wilson Obituary

Rose Ann “Sweetie” Wilson was born October 16, 1947 in Bonham, Texas to the union of Henry and Beatrice Everidge. After graduating Valedictorian of Washington High School in Bonham & Prairie View A&M University, Sweetie relocated to South Bend, where she was employed with Model City. She later was united in marriage to Troy Lee Wilson Sr. Sweetie became a faithful member of Layman Chapel CME Church. There she served as a Sunday school teacher, was on the Steward Board, and was the Board of Christian Education Director.

With her contributions to her church, Sweetie also served her community with the following: was employed with Hansel Neighborhood Center which includes Head Start where she was a teacher and supervisor until she retired in 2007, she was a member of the Retired Lady’s Group at the Robinson Center, she was a part of the Far Northwest Neighborhood Association, she was an advocate and part of the 55-plus exercise class at the MLK Center sponsor by St. Joe Hospital, she was a member of the Lunch & Learn program held by Norte Dame, as well as worked the polls for the city’s election. 

Sweetie’s beauty, kindness, and jolly personality shined in all that she did.  She loved dancing and singing wherever she was. She had a passion for fashion. If she was not at home or at church, you could find her at Macy’s or Target! She enjoyed traveling back home to Texas and vacationing with family and friends.

Sweetie was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Lee Wilson, Sr.; three brothers, Michael and Henry Everidge, and Robert Reed; and three sisters, Emma-Jean Williams, Emma Robinson, and Mary Harris.

Sweetie is survived by three sons, Tony Wilson, Toron (Dionne)Wilson, and Troy Wilson, Jr.; grandchildren, Toron Jr., Trey, Torojha, KDN, Kahrynn, Jayden, Valynn, Tania, Tanea, Tony, Jr., Saivion, Mekiah Wilson; and 2 Great-Grandchildren. A special daughter Yvonne Gadie (Daisha, Madison, Peyton), a special niece Sue Wyatt, and her besties Beatrice Milton, Mai Pittman, Janice Winthrop-Limnt, and Thelma Williams all of the Michiana/Indianapolis area.
