Robert R Wacunas

Robert R. Wacunas, 84 years old, peacefully passed away on Monday, July 3, 2023 at his residence with his family at his side.

Robert was born on June 20, 1939 in South Bend to the late Frances Fozo who preceded Robert in death. On May 29, 1970 Robert married the love of his life, Sandra (Tennis) Wacunas, who survives along with his children; Pamela (Dave) Myers, Linda (Dave) Weist, Dwayne Wacunas, Michele (Monty) Layne, as well as his daughter-in-law, Jill Chadwell. Robert was also a great grandfather to 53 children; 12 Grandkids, 25 Great Grandchildren and 16 Great-Great Grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his son, Garry Chadwell.

Robert proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Robert was a carpenter in the Local #413 Carpenters Union. Known as Drewrysbob, Robert was also a member of the BCCA and NABA collectors. Favorite past-times included collecting Drewrys and Indiana memorabilia as well as beer signs. Robert had a fondness for playing golf, bowling, cards, shooting darts and pool.

Friends and family will be received from 9:00am to 11:00am Saturday, July 8, 2023 at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 South Mayflower South Bend, IN 46619 with a funeral service at 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
