Rita Lorraine (Strychalski) Stancati

Rita Lorraine Stancati, 94 years old, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 surrounded by her loving family in her home.

Rita was born on March 18, 1931 in South Bend, to the late Leon and Joan (Wloderek) Strychalski. On September 1, 1952, Rita married the love of her life, Guy J. Stancati, who precedes her in death. Rita is also preceded in death by her sister, Maria Strychalski; brothers, Zenobius & Ben Strychalski; and niece, Carol Byrd.

Left to cherish the memory of Rita, are her children, Michelle Stancati, Maria Stancati; grandson, Anthony Jakubowicz; and a special niece, Loraine Adams.

Rita attended St. Adalbert grade school, and was a graduate of South Bend Catholic High School.  She worked in accounting for the Oliver Corporation, Torrington and PPNCI. Rita was a member of the Canasta Club 1951, was vice president of the PWA, and was a member of the St. Adalbert Rosary Sodality, and the Felicitation Sisters Harvest House. 

A visitation for Rita will be 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Thursday, July 24, 2025 in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., South Bend, with a Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm in the funeral home.  Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Pet Refuge in honor of Rita Lorraine Stancati.
