Rita A. (Craig) Cahall

Rita A Cahall, 84 years old, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024 at Briar Cliff Nursing Facility in South Bend.

Rita was born on April 12, 1939 in Jasonville, IN to the late Noel and Gertrude (Harlan) Craig. On June 8, 1958, Rita married the love of her life, William "Ted" Cahall, who preceded her in death.  She is also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jordan Cahall and Kristen Horvath; brothers, Richard Stevenson, Max Craig, Loren Craig, and Ronald Craig; sister, Jane Kaufman; and son-in-law, Donald Waddups.

Left to cherish their memory of Rita, are her children, Barbara Waddups, Becky (Kevin) Horvath, Steve (Kelly) Cahall, and Richard Cahall; best friend, Janet Merrill; 8 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Rita was a faithful member of West Side Church of Christ and Ala-non. Rita loved sewing, crocheting, cleaning, gardening, watching and feeding her hummingbirds. Above all, she loved her grandchildren. She was affectionately known as “Play-doh Grandma” and “Meemaw”. Anytime she could spend with them, she would.

Visitation for Rita will be 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday, February 18, 2024 at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., South Bend, IN.  A funeral service will take place on Monday, February 19, 2024 at 12:00 pm at the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will immediately follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
