Richard Overton

Richard E. Overton, 82, passed away on Thursday, April 06, 2023.

Richard was born on June 19, 1940 in to the late Jack and Dorothy (Smith) Overton. On June 26, 1976, Richard married the love of his life Joann (Bobbitt) Overton, she preceded him in death on June 29, 2012. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Michelle.

Left to cherish their memory of Richard are his children, Geoffrey (Leticia) Overton, Bryan (Sherry) Overton, and Angela Sanders; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Overton, Larry Overton, Jack Overton; and sisters, Denise Goepfrich, Rhonda Shoemaker.

Richard retired in 2009 from 1st Source Bank where he was a System Programmer for 31 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Richard was a member of Oak Tree Community Church. He enjoyed reading, nature and being outdoors. Richard was a warm person and genuinely cared about the people around him. He had a deep faith and towering character. Richard’s family was his favorite part of life. He was a truly loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Visitation will be held 11:00AM to 1:00PM with the funeral service beginning at 1:00PM on Monday, April 10, 2023 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, Mayflower Rd. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Garden Cemetery.
