Richard R. Hiatt, 75, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025.
Richard was born December 14, 1949 to the late Charles Hiatt & Doris (Hoot) Hiatt Brandon. He married his loving wife, Jean Hiatt, who preceded him in death, along with a brother, Denny Hiatt.
Left to cherish the memory of Richard are his children, Kim (Troy) Lyvers, Angie (Jeff) Kruggel, Tina (Joshua) Banks, and Tammy Cooper; his grandchildren & great-grandchildren; siblings, Scott (Marcia) Hiatt, Linda (Jerry) Dudeck, and Tom (Karen) Hiatt.
Richard enjoyed fishing, and was a stock car racer. He worked at Wheel Horse, Bendix, Mishawaka Waste Water treatment plant and was a union steward.
He started Mishawka Cab Company, the first taxi company in Mishawaka.
Richard never knew a stranger, could talk to anyone, and never was one to sit still. He will be missed by all.
Visitation for Richard will be 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm on Friday, September 26, 2025 at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., South Bend. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Center for Hospice Care, Ernestine M. Raclin House, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, In 46545 in honor of Richard R. Hiatt.
