Placido Olivarez, Sr, 88 years old, peacefully passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025 in South Bend surrounded by his loving family.
Placido was born on June 6, 1936 in La Blanca, TX to the late Maximiliano Olivarez and Matilde Flores. He married Dominga R. Olivarez, who preceded him in death along with his sisters, Bertha (Andres, Sr.) Lopez and Elena Torres.
Left to cherish their memory of Placido, are his children, Juan Angel (Viola) Olivarez, Sr., Martha Olivarez (Ernesto) Garza, Placido "Chach" (Kim) Olivarez, Jr., Maria Elena Olivarez, Rigoberto (Terri) Olivarez, Sr., Rogelio (Sandy) Olivarez, Sr., and Maximiliano Olivarez; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild. Placido is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Placido was a proud farmer. He worked for Martin Blad Farms for 60 years before retirement, and he loved what he did. Placido also enjoyed music and dancing – especially playing the accordion. He also loved going to the South Bend Motor Speedway, going to the Flea market, and traveling to Texas.

Visitation for Placido will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, March 13, 2025 with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 pm at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., South Bend, In. A Funeral Service will take place at 12:30 pm on Friday, March 14, 2025 at the Funeral Home with a one-hour visitation prior to the service. Entombment will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
