Pinky Lee (Horton) Austin

October 11, 1956 – March 10, 2023

Pinky Lee Austin, 66, passed away Friday, March 10, 2023.  Pinky was born October 11, 1956 in South Bend, Indiana to the union of Elonzo and Willie Bee (Johnson) Horton. 

She attended LaSalle High School and graduated from South Bend Street Academy.  Pinky worked for several nursing homes, and at Uniroyal.  She enjoyed cooking, playing cards and socializing with family and friends.

Survivors left to cherish the memory of Pinky is her son, Clifford (Andrea) Davis III; sister, Elizabeth Horton; brother, Ezikiel Horton; uncle, Firdia L. Johnson; grandchildren, Jamesa, Brooklynn, Devin, Sabrina, Izaiah, David, & Mason; great-grandchildren, Zy’mere, Za’Rhia, Tae’Lynn, & Taylor; nieces, Teneka Horton, Dana Anderson, Telisha (Billy) Kirtdoll, Alice Petrice McFerren, & Terrel Thomas; special niece, LaToya Surratt; nephews, Demetrius Horton, Jeremiah Horton, & Jason Jones;  special friends, Linda Harris, L.C. Briggins, & Debbie Harris. Those who preceded Pinky in death are her parents, Elonzo & Willie Bee Horton; and brothers, Thomas King McFerren, Abraham Horton, & Jeremiah Horton.

Pinky worshipped at Saint Paul Bethel Baptist Church for many years. She was a member of their senior choir, the nurses and the kitchen committee.

A Celebration of Pinky’s Life will be held at St. Paul Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in South Bend on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 1:30PM followed by a repass on the lower level. Condolences may be made at www.sjfh.net
