Peter Pica, Jr Obituary

Peter Anthony Pica, Jr., 91, passed away on May 22, in South Bend, IN. Pete was born on March 8, 1934 in Chicago to Peter Anthony Pica, Sr. and Ethel (Wilk) Pica who preceded him in death.

Pete went to Woodrow Wilson Elementary and graduated from Washington High School. He then served his country during the Korean War for two years in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Valparaiso Institute of Technology and started work at AT&T. On May 5, 1962, he married Bonnie Louise Cronkhite at Holy Family Catholic Church in South Bend.

Bonnie Pica survives him, along with daughter Nancy Renken (Frederick) and son James Pica. His son, Thomas Pica (Sayaka) and his brother, Anthony (Tony) P. Pica (Jane) preceded him in death. He also is survived by six grandchildren and two step grandchildren. Other survivors include his sisters, Carolyn Banulis (Brent) and Jacqueline Schimmel (Walt).

Pete was quite a handyman, always repairing things that were broken. He was a caregiver, had a great sense of humor, and adored his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by everyone!

A mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Saturday, June 7 at 11 am with a visitation at St. Joseph Funeral Home starting at 9 am. A graveside burial and lunch reception at the American Legion will follow. He will be cremated and buried at St. Joseph Cemetery.
