Peter Morr Metcalf, 82 years old, peacefully passed away on June 14, 2024 surrounded by family at Caring Cottage in South Bend.
Peter was born on June 5, 1942 in Kansas City, MO to the late David and Dorothy (Wittig) Metcalf. Peter is also preceded in death by his In-Laws, Robert and Gabrielle Ranschaert.
Left to cherish their memories of Peter is the love of his life, Maureen Metcalf; step-daughter and her children, Megan (Stephan) Wroblewski, Alex Wroblewski, Jaxson Wroblewski, and
Kennedy Wroblewski; son, David (Leslie) Metcalf; daughter, Jamie (Brian) Minniear; and his grandchildren, Lexie Galbraith, Nolan Metcalf, Rhys Minniear, Josiah Minniear, and Silas Minniear.
Peter proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a part of the SAC stationed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He has always been into electronics, once owning Michiana Electronics and working as an Electronics Technician at the University of Notre Dame. Peter loved building model airplanes, wine-making, attending craft shows, flying, and watching Notre Dame Football. He also loved running. He accumulated many medals for all of the marathons he finished. Above all, he loved his family. He loved watching his grandkids play baseball and traveling all over this country with his wife, Maureen.
The family would like to thank Dr. Atallah, the Traditions Hospice staff, and Caring Cottage for their exceptional care over Peter.
Visitation for Peter will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, June 17, 2024 and again from 10:00am to 11:00am Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at all St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S Mayflower Rd, South Bend. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
