SOUTH BEND – Pauline S. Nowicki, 88, of South Bend, IN passed away Monday, December 29, at her home. She was born on May 30, 1937 in South Bend to Joseph and Gertrude (Jurgonski) Reiter. On November 19, 1955 at St. Casimir’s Catholic Church in South Bend, she married Daniel K. Nowicki, who passed away April 7, 2022. Pauline is survived by her children, Craig (Mary Rose) Nowicki of South Bend, IN; Todd Nowicki of Bristol, IN and Jim Nowicki of South Bend, IN. Surviving also are 8 grandchildren: Joseph (Kelilyn) Nowicki, Eric (Katie) Nowicki, Cole Nowicki, Stephanie Smith and Olivia Smith, Ryan (Baylee) Nowicki, Maria (Evan) Rice, and Maggie (Brennan) Harrington; six great-grandchildren: Eli, Jay, Poppy, Lia, Henry and Wells; and a niece and several nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Thomas J. Reiter.
Pauline was a 1955 graduate of Washington High School and retired from Koontz Wagner Electric Company. Pauline loved family gatherings, playing cards and going to the casinos. She was amazingly lucky when she did go to the casino! Pauline was a very competitive card player, and there are many fond memories of her trash talking and “teaching” her kids and grandkids while playing cards.
Pauline was a loving wife who took unselfish care of Dan during his illness, and an outstanding mother who always put her children and family first.
There will be no visitation. A private burial service will take place. St. Joseph Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
