Paul John Shank, 70, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at home in South Bend.
Paul was born on July 29, 1955 in South Bend, Indiana to John W. and Marlene (Johnson) Shank. Paul is preceded in death by his parents, John and Marlene Shank; son, Ryan Paul; brother-in-law, Richard Brooks; and a niece, Margaret Brooks.
Left to cherish their memories of Paul are his sisters, Linda Brooks, Rene (Terry) Pipp, and Suellen (Michael) Seltenright; brother, John Shank, II; nieces, Rachel, Myra, and Sydney; nephews, Richard, Charles, and Jacob; many great-nieces and nephews, loving aunts and an uncle, and numerous cousins.
Paul graduated Riley High School, class of 1974, then went on to continue his education at a culinary school in Chicago. Cooking was his passion, he was a successful chef throughout his life. Paul always wanted to open his own diner or sports bar. He was an avid Green Bay Packers, Chicago White Socks, and Notre Dame fan. Paul traveled every year to watch the Green Bay training camp in August and was able to attend a game with his brother, John, in 2004. He enjoyed being on the go and stopping sporadically wherever he wanted to.
Paul will always be remembered by his family for his great sense of humor and beautiful blue eyes.
