Mia Josilyn Villanueva Cervera Brunner, 10 years old, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
Mia was born on November 16, 2013 in South Bend, IN. She is survived by her mother, Gabrielle Brunner; father, Jesus Cervera, Jr.; sister, Isabel Cervera; brother, Adrian Brunner; grandfathers, Henry (Lisa) Brunner and J Jesus Cervera; grandmothers, Shayna (Gerry) Bysiek, affectionately known as “Mo”, and Dora Renteria; great-grandfathers, Robert (Kathy) Brunner and Joseph (Patricia) Villanueva; aunts, Kirsten Brunner, Kassy (Craig) Brunner, Arielle Brunner, Sophie (Gabe) Bysiek, Janet Cervera, and Dora Cervera; uncles, Anthony Williams, Jared Bysiek, and Alberto Cervera; as well as several other loving family members and friends. Mia is preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Grandma AJ.
Mia was a special young girl. She was full of love and life. Some of her favorite activities included listening to her favorite music – especially Ed Sheeran, swimming, bowling, cuddling with her favorite relatives, playing outside and going on walks, tailgating at Notre Dame and watching their games, and going to school and learning. Most of all, she was full of love for her friends and family. She adored all the connections and interactions she could have with her people. Although Mia was full of love, she was also a fighter. She defied the odds of living as long as she did – but most importantly, she lived her life to the fullest and displayed her strength through her joy and laughter in her everyday life. She was loved by everyone who came in contact with her and she will be dearly missed.
Visitation for Mia will be held from 3:00pm-6:00pm, Friday, December 22, 2023 at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S Mayflower Rd, South Bend, with a funeral service to begin at 6:00 pm.
