Maureen Anne Suth, 81, passed away peacefully at the Center for Hospice Care in Mishawaka on Friday, November 3, 2023 surrounded by her family.
Maureen was born on February 3, 1942 in South Bend, to Irene (Kil) and Emery Suth. She attended Holy Cross Grade School, graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1960, and continued her education by becoming an LPN. Maureen was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and truly enjoyed their monthly luncheons and getting to see her friends. Maureen loved to travel and had taken many trips, throughout the years. Spending time with her family was what she looked forward to the most. Maureen was always up for a family gathering and absolutely loved the holidays.
Maureen is survived by her sisters, Janeen Conboy and Phyllis Lentych; sister-in-law, Donna Suth; 11 nieces and nephews, Tammy (Tom) Crowe, Greg (Julie) Suth, Sean (Paige) Conboy, Kelly Willhoite, Kevin (Nicole) Conboy, Rob (Ranae) Suth, Andrea (Jeff) Nitz, Todd (Jody) Lentych, Pat Suth, Tim (Katie) Lentych, and Jimmy (Brittany) Suth; 25 great-nieces & nephews; and soon to be 3 great-great nieces and nephews. Maureen is preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Emery Suth; brother, Michael Suth; brothers-in-law, Raymond Lentych and Daniel Conboy.
To say that Maureen was an avid sports fan is an understatement! She loved watching sports, especially Chicago Cubs and pretty much any Notre Dame sports team. Maureen was a Notre Dame season ticket holder for many years. Sun, snow, rain or shine, she was always determined to make her way out to a football or basketball game, to cheer on the Irish. She was an extremely loyal Chicago Cubs fan and was thrilled to see them win a World Series in 2016. Maureen was also a season ticket holder for the South Bend Cubs and could always be found in the same section, same “aisle seats”, each year. She was always willing to offer those tickets to anyone that wanted to go, as long as it wasn’t a warm July evening with postgame fireworks, because she wasn’t missing those perfect nights at the ball park.
Maureen had a heart of gold and will be very much missed by her family and friends. Her spirit will live on through each one of her family members during each holiday gathering, and as they cheer on the Cubs (remembering “there's always next year”) or pray for a Notre Dame football or basketball victory.
Visitation will be held 10:00am-11:00am, with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 11:00am, on Friday, November 10, 2023 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 19704 Johnson Rd., South Bend, IN. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
