Mary Harris Obituary

Mary Harris was called home to be with the lord on July 31, 2024.  She was born July 8, 1939, in Bonham Texas to Henry Everidge and Beatrice Walton Everidge.  In 1955 Mary was united in Holy Matrimony to Roosevelt Harris.  Mary and her husband later moved to South Bend, in 1957 where she became a stay-at-home mother and gave birth to 8 children.  Mary was a faithful servant of the lord and served as a long-time member of Christ Temple Church of God in Christ.

She was on the Usher Board and had a role in many activities for her church.  Mary was a God-fearing woman with a big heart and was always there for family and friends with open arms.  She played a huge role in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Being a woman of faith and knowing the power of prayer she would spend many of nights praying for her family.  Mary was a beautiful soul inside and out.  She loved the lord and loved going to church.

Mary had an eye for fashion and interior design.  She would go thrifting and take whatever she bought and turn it into a treasure to marvel.  She also loved to dress as she had an eye for fashion. She loved her high heel shoes and skirts.  She did not believe in wearing pants as she thought they were made for men.

Mary was a lady of Elegance, irreplaceable mother, and a fashionable lady.  She was treasured in life and will be missed in death.

Mary was proceeded in death by her husband Roosevelt Harris, three brothers Michael Everidge, Henry Everidge, and Robert Reed and three sister Emma-Jean Williams, Emma Robinson, and Rose Wilson, a great granddaughter Adrianna Knights.

Mary is survived by (two sons) Terry Harris, Tedric Harris, (six daughters) Rose Mary Harris, Stephanie Hamilton (Roosevelt Hamilton), Karen Harris, Sandra Greene (Clifton Greene), Shellie Harris-Jones (Clarence Jones), and Machell Harris.  Mary is also survived by 20 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
