Margaret M. (Steif) Christ

Mishawaka - Margaret M. Christ, 94 years old, peacefully passed away on January 11, 2023 in her home, after battling dementia for several years. Margaret was born on May 29, 1928 in Mishawaka to the late Walter and Clara (Stoeckinger) Steif. Along with her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her infant son, Francis Joseph Jr; brother, Fred (Priscilla) Steif; and her sister Betty (Leo) Matt.

On August 30, 1952 in St. Monica Catholic Church, Margaret married the love of her life of 70 years, Francis “Chris” Christ, who survives. Along with her loving husband, Francis, Margaret is survived by her daughters, Sue (Phil) Baumgartner and Karen Christ; brother, Bob (Mary) Steif; and granddaughters, Natalie and Kathryn Baumgartner.

Margaret worked as a bookkeeper for Security Loan Company of Mishawaka for 5 years, before going to Trane Company of South Bend. After 24 years with Trane Company, she retired in 1994. Margaret belonged to the Rosary Society at St. Monica Catholic Church where she was a lifetime member. She attended St. Monica Grade School and graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1946. Margaret enjoyed camping in Pentwater, Michigan and Wintering in New Port Richey, Florida. Above all, she loved spending time with her friends and family. She was loved by many and will truly be missed by all.

Visitation for Margaret will be on Friday, January 20, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM in St. Monica Catholic Church 222 W Mishawaka Ave with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka, IN. Funeral arrangements were trusted to St. Joseph Funeral Home.
