Marcos R. Garcia

Marcos R. Garcia, 93, of South Bend, formerly of Santa Maria, CA, passed away at 5:48 AM, Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

Marcos was born on October 7, 1930, in Oklahoma City, to the late Maria Guadalupe (Ramirez) Garcia and Marcos Garcia. He worked as a custodian for Santa Maria Bonita School District in Santa Maria, California. He retired in 1992 after many years of service.

Marcos loved family gatherings and listening to his favorite Mexican music. He enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino, and in his younger years playing baseball. Marcos always prayed and blessed his loved ones before going onto trips and hung a saint in his Chevy Silverado.

Left to cherish the memory of Marcos is his daughter, Eloisa Garcia and husband Jorge Cerrillo of Mexico; daughter, Amelia Garcia of Mexico; son, Javier and wife Eva Garcia of Mexico; son, Victor Garcia of Mexico; daughter, Veronica L. Garcia of Santa Maria, CA; son, Marcos S. Garcia and wife Otilia of Santa Maria; daughter, Josephine Garcia of Santa Maria; daughter, Marizol Roland and husband Daniel of Santa Maria; brother, Antonio Garcia and wife Marina of South Bend; brother, Jose Garcia and wife Carmen of Mexico; brother, Jose Isabel Garcia and wife Olivia of Santa Maria; sister, Francisca Garcia of South Bend; brother, Rafael Garcia and wife Gloria of South Bend; brother Pablo Garcia of South Bend; also fourteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday, October 3, 2024, at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, with a rosary to be recited at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Friday, October 4, 2024, with visitation one hour prior, at St. Casimir Catholic Church Catholic Church, 1302 W. Dunham Street, South Bend. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
