Larry was born on April 8, 1940 in South Bend, to the late Roger and Geneva (Smith) Donica. On February 14, 1961, Larry married the love of his life of 64 years, Barbara Ann Cieslik, who passed away earlier this year. Larry is also preceded in death by his half-brother, Ron Woolverton; and half-sister, Phyllis Woolverton.
Larry is survived by his 2 children, Theresa (Darryl) Wroblewski and David (Tina) Donica; 7 grandchildren, Jeremy (Sarah), Candace (Corey), Justin (Erin), Trevor (Jillian), Mitchell (Jenny), Aubrei (Ethan), and Hunter; 12 great-grandchildren, Alexis (Chris), Kaydence (Ryan), Jesse, JJ, Oliva, Alex, Mya, Anna, Axel, Grayson, Cohen, Bode, and one great-great-grandson, Jayce; as well as his brother-in-law, Ray Cieslik from California.
Larry was a lifelong resident of South Bend. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. After serving, Larry returned home and through tireless determination, he worked three separate jobs, all while finishing his High School diploma. Larry continued his incredible work ethic throughout his life, learning how to weld which led him to eventually owning his own business, G&H Donica Welding – which provided him and his family so much. He even proudly made the trailer for Paul Newman. Larry also loved to play chess, and taught several classes throughout his life. He always cheered on Notre Dame sports, and was willing to help anyone around him in need. He lived out his motto: “I’m a man of very little, but I have everything.”
There will be no services held at this time. St. Joseph Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
