Katheryn D. VanLaere, 93 years old, passed away on Friday, August 04, 2023.

Katheryn was born in South Bend on April 03, 1930 to the late Walter and Martha (Urbanski) Kolczynski as the youngest of 8 children. Katheryn married the love of her life, Eddie E. VanLaere, on August 12, 1950 in St. Casimir Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on May 28, 2017. She was also preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.

Left to cherish Katheryn’s memory, are her son, Andrew VanLaere and spouse Cherie; grandchildren, Ashley Davidson and spouse Alan, Brianna Nickles and spouse Ronnie, Jessica Bishop and spouse James, and Jennifer Freel; and many great grandchildren.

Katheryn worked for 10 years as a dealer and manager for the Tupperware Company until she retired in 1988. After retiring she enjoyed trips to the casino. Her family was the most important thing in Katheryn’s life. She cherished the memory of her son’s little league years and her role as the President of the Hammis Park little league. Katheryn loved spending as much time as she could with her family above all else. She felt she had the best husband in the world and lived an amazing life with him.
