Obituary

Julia A. Reaves, 93, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 26th, 2023. Julia was born March 22, 1930, in LaPorte, Indiana, to the late Harold and Lorine (Mills) Warwick. The Warwick family moved to South Bend in 1939, where Julia resided the remainder of her life. Julia graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. She married Thomas Reaves in 1949, and they had two sons, Mark and Bruce.

Julia shared a special bond with her sisters Mona and Pat. Julia and Mona both married into the Reaves family, with Julia marrying Thomas and Mona marrying his brother Marvin. The three sisters had a passion for antiques, and they opened an antique shop in the Thieves Market in the 1980s. After the untimely loss of her brother-in-law Marvin and her sister Pat, Julia and Mona traveled all over Europe and Asia together. Julia also enjoyed cheering on her beloved Chicago Cubs and watching college basketball, especially Notre Dame. Her passion for her family was unmatched and served as a loving example of how to live your best life.

Left to cherish the memory of Julia are her sons Mark (Kimberly) and Bruce (Janice) Reaves;  grandchildren Jeremy (Allison) Reaves, Katie Reaves, William (Grace) Reaves, and Joseph (Tara) Reaves; great-grandchildren Brayden, Ryland, Malana, Blake and Nolan Reaves, Kylie and Kaden Witty; close family Tamara Young, Janine Reaves, Susan Whiting, Carol Talboom, Gretchen (Jeff) Gear, Kristen Koers, Graham (Shelly) Young, Jessica (Christopher Spencer) Dellinger, Ashley (Damian Dockery) Young, Christopher Nagy and Steven Whiting.

Julia also loved celebrating events in the company of the Weaver family, Gary, Jill and Jason.

Julia was preceded in death by her husband Thomas; her sisters, Patsy (Edward) Talboom, Ramona (Marvin) Reaves, Janice Lee Warwick (infant); brothers-in-law, Marvin Reaves, James Reaves and Edward Talboom, nephews David Talboom, Phillip Young and George Whiting.
