Judith A (Kaczorowski) Phillips

Judith A Phillips passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on Saturday November 18, 2023. Judy was born to the late Walter and Lucille Kaczorowski on June 17, 1942. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1960. In June of 1963 she married William Grochowalski, who passed away in 1967. Together they had a son, James Grochowalski. In 1973 Judy married Bill Phillips and together they had a daughter, Jennifer Jaggers.

Over the years Judy worked for various companies holding various job titles. Eventually in 2018, she retired from favorite position as a bus aide for special needs children after 14 years. Judy had a heart for service. She was a volunteer for Fountain View Nursing Home and The Morris Performing Arts Center. She was an active parishioner at St. Pius X Catholic Church.

She leaves behind a large family who will miss her greatly. Her children, Jim (Jill) Grochowalski and Jennifer (Roland) Jaggers. She has 6 grandchildren, Kayla (Cody) Heckman, Lindsey (Patrick) Hafenbridle, Ryan Grochowalski, Victoria Jaggers, Isabella Jaggers, and Rebecca Jaggers. Two great-grandchildren, Bailey and Parker Heckman. She is also survived by her brother, Daniel (Dolores) Kaczorowski, sister Lorie Rauch, best friend and "classmate" Patti Meller, along with a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a pack of great-grandpups, Alice, Charlie, Chubz, Honey, Cheeto, Mila, and Maverick, who she secretly adored.

Her family was very important to her. She looked forward to the pictures and text messages with updates on what they were doing. She never missed a chance to support her grandkids and great grandkids in their activities or an opportunity to brag on their successes. Wednesday afternoons were her favorite because she knew her son and great-grandchildren would be over for their weekly visit.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday November 28, 2023 from 2-7 pm at St. Joseph Funeral Home located at 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN 46619, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4pm. On Wednesday, November 29th a visitation will be held at 9:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 am at St. Pius X Catholic Church located at 52553 N. Fir Road, Granger, IN 46530. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
