Josephine H. (Bentkowski) Dembinski, 104 years old, peacefully passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Holy Cross Long Term Care in South Bend.
Josephine was born on March 12, 1922 in South Bend to the late Casimer and Mary (Lewandowski) Bentkowski. On April 27, 1946 in South Bend, Josephine married the love of her life, Raymond A. Dembinski, who passed away in 2013. Josephine is also preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses; Rose (Erwin) Kalka, Chester (Irene) Bentkowski, Lorraine (Ted) Piechocki, Evelyn (Leo) Lyczynski, and Patricia (Harry) Skierkowski.
Left to cherish their memories of Josephine is her daughter, Mary Jo (Joseph) Kaiser of South Bend; grandson, Eric (Sharon) Kaiser of Jackson, MI; great-grandchildren, Amelie Kaiser of Tucson, AZ, Matee Nowicki of Grand Rapids, MI, and Trent Nowicki of Jackson, MI; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Josephine was a devoted Catholic whose faith remained an important part of her life. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and was known for preparing meals that brought everyone together. In her free time, she loved knitting and crocheting, creating many handmade items for those she cared about. She will bedeeply missed.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the entire staff of Holy Cross and to Kristi, Nicole, Brittany, and Jill at Paradigm Hospice.
Visitation for Josephine will be held from 11:00am-12:00pm Wednesday, July 8, 2026 with a Rosary to be prayed at 12:00pm and a funeral service to immediately follow, all at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S Mayflower Rd, South Bend, IN 46619. Entombment will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
