John Robert Dresbach, 85 years old, peacefully passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026 at West Bend Nursing Facility in South Bend.
John was born on November 7, 1940 in South Bend, to the late Robert and Elizabeth (Hodzsa) Dresbach. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Barb (Dresbach) Wagner.
On June 27, 1964, John married his loving wife JoEllen Potthast, who survives, along with their children, Annette (Randy) Meller, Robert (Denise) Dresbach, and Daniel (Romy) Dresbach; grandchildren, Brian Dresbach, Justin Dresbach, Christopher (Tiffany) Dresbach, Joaquin Dresbach; great-granddaughter, Eden Dresbach; and his sister, Marilyn (Dresbach) Greening.
John graduated from Central High School in 1959. After schooling, He honorably served his country in the United States Army in Korea. After the service, John worked for Bendix/Allied Signal before retiring in 2001. John enjoyed bowling, restoring and showing John Deere Tractors, and camping with his camping group - the Firesiders. This grouped consisted of many retirees from Bendix and as a group they camped for nearly 26 years, traveling all over Indiana camping at 19 State Parks.
Visitation for John will be held from 12:30 pm-1:30 pm on Monday, January 12, 2026 at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., South Bend with a Funeral Service to begin at 1:30 pm at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow with Military Honors at St. Joseph Cemetery.
