Joan Krochmal

Joan Krochmal, 87, passed away on Wednesday, May 07, 2025. 

Joan was born on February 20, 1938 in South Bend, to the late John and Mary (Pazadziura) Krochmal. She was also preceded in death by her brothers & sisters, Edward, John, Joseph Krochmal, Emily Singleton, Sophie Krakowski; niece, Cynthia (Lester) Martin; nephew, Michael Dobrzykowski; and great-nephew, Adam Stokes. 

Left to cherish the memory of Joan are great-nieces, Daniellie (Gabriel) White, Melissa (Quinton) Rucker, Michelle Collinsworth; great-great-nieces & nephews, Jason Johnson, Jr., Antwain Johnson, Latrell Johnson, Keanna Rucker, Andrew & Ryan Bennington, Jared & Tyler Gorby; great-great-great nephews, Jason Johnson III & Jettson Johnson. 

Joan retired in 2003 from Tom’s Restaurant, where she was a waitress for 50 years.  She was active in the St. Joseph County 4H Fair, enjoyed crossword puzzles, baking kieflies, eating watermelon, watching Family Feud, America’s Funniest Video’s and Elvis.  Notre Dame and the New York Yankees were her favorite teams, and she had a great time with her sister, Emily in Vegas. Most of all she loved hosting holidays and spending time with her loved ones.  Also, Joan was faithful in saying the Rosary every day.  She will be truly missed by all. 

Visitation for Joan will be 10:00 am to 1:00 pm Monday, May 12, 2025 at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., South Bend with a Funeral Service to begin at 1:00 pm.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at sjfh.net.
