Joan Dudzinski Obituary

Joan Dudzinski, 90 years old, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at her home in Mishawaka.

Joan was born on February 3, 1933 in South Bend, to the late John and Anna (Sroda) Guzicki. On May 20, 1954, Joan married the love of her life, Henry Dudzinski, who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by two sons, Jim and Dave Dudzinski; brothers, Leo and George Guzicki; and her sister, Irene Weil.

Left to cherish the memory of Joan is her son, Alan (April) Dudzinski: daughter-in-laws, Barb & Rosie Dudzinski; grandchildren, Jamie Dudzinski, Mike (Janette) Dudzinski, J.R. Dudzinski, Jodi (Jono) Alama, Danielle (Jason) Pedersen, Megan (Tim) Sneeringer, David (Laura) Dudzinski, Katy (Matt) Hoyutec, and Robbie Dudzinski; great-grandchildren, Weston Dudzinski, Isaiah, Elizabeth and Max Alama, Asher and Isaiah Pedersen, Daelynn, Vincent and Christopher Sneeringer. She is also survived by her sister, Loretta Heiser of Lakeville, IN, and her sister-in-law, Carolyn Dudzinski.

Joan attended St. Hedwig Grade School, and was graduate of South Bend Catholic High School.  After graduation, she had a career with Associates in South Bend for 35 years. Joan was a member of the Serran Vocation Club, ZB Falcons Polish Club, and the American Legion Post #357.  She enjoyed gardening, and traveling to many places with family and to see family. These places include: Rome, Costa Rica, Mexico, Washington, DC, Napa Valley, San Francisco, Maryland, Seattle, Florida, Boston, Burbank, NYC, Utah, Washington State, Illinois, Texas and yearly trips to Arizona in the winters. She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren compete in sporting events throughout the country, going fishing with her sons and families, and vacationing in a cabin on the lakes in Minnesota.  Her prized Polish Kiflies were a staple at Christmas, and you could often smell the Polish sausage when you came to visit.  In 2022, it was a real highlight for her to be able to dance the Polka with her granddaughter, Katy, and her husband, Matt at their wedding along with her grandsons, nephew, George Weil and his wife, Debbie.  In recent years, she enjoyed the companionship of friends at Tanglewood Retirement Community and the myriad of events there and visits from other nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their thanks to Heart-to-Heart Hospice in South Bend for their kind and compassionate care of Joan.
