James M. Kruszynski

James M. Kruszynski, 94, passed away on January 13, 2026, at his home in South Bend.

James was born in South Bend on June 25, 1931, to the late Thomas J. Kruszynski and Martha Sylvia (Swinsick) Kruszynski. On January 29, 1994, in Fish Lake, he married Carolyn A. (Lane) Kruszynski, and she survives. 

James was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was owner and operator of Kruszynski Construction. He enjoyed doing projects around the house and building things. He enjoyed boxing, working out, and lifting weights, even still working out into his later years. He was a big Notre Dame fan and loved being around his cats.

Left to cherish the memories of James are his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Tina (Richard) Pedigo; daughter, Jennifer (Ed) Cornelis; special niece, Pammy Sue (Dale) Heisman; 20 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and several other nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents, a son, James M. Kruszynski Jr., brothers, Richard, Robert, and Thomas Kruszynski, and a sister, Mary Chamberlain.

A funeral service for James will be held at 12 pm, Monday, January 19, 2026, at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road. Burial will immediately follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit from 10 am – 12 pm, two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of James may be made to Pet Refuge Inc. 4626 S.
