James Finch Obituary

James J. Finch, 80 years old, peacefully passed away on September 15, 2024 at BellTower Health and Rehabilitation Center in Mishawaka.

Jim was born on November 4, 1943 in South Bend to the late Claude and Josephine (Harmacinski) Finch. Jim is also preceded in death by his brothers, David Finch and Paul Finch.

Left to cherish their memories, Jim is survived by his siblings, Sylvia Finch, Claudine (William) Cortier, Michael Finch, and Kenneth (Nancy) Finch; his sister-in-law, Barbara Finch; nine nieces and nephews, Anthony, Lisa, Lori, Melanie, Brenda, Christopher, Valerie, Danielle, and Brian; and several great nieces and great nephews.

Jim proudly worked at Notre Dame for 45 years, working Maintenance in the South Dining Hall. Jim was a parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church and St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. He was an extremely giving person, having given to many charities throughout his entire life. He loved to garden and grow roses. He also loved playing video games – mainly his Nintendo and SNES. Jim also was a candy fanatic – having stashes hidden everywhere so he could give them to his nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received from 10:00am to 11:00am Thursday, September 19, 2024 at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, 2310 E Jefferson Ave, South Bend, IN 46615. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following visitation at 11:00am. Burial will immediately follow at in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
