Irene (Meyer) Johnson

Irene Paula Johnson, 91, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024 with her granddaughter Gina DeVon and great-granddaughter, Myla by her side in the Center for Hospice Care, Raclin House.

Irene was born on June 20, 1933 in Germany to the late Theodore and Maria (Kurz) Meyer. On November 8, 1955 in Germany, Irene married, Richard Johnson, he preceded her in death in 1989. Irene was also preceded in death by her son, Rene Johnson, daughter, Linda Morris and granddaughter, Dawn Johnson.

Left to cherish Irene’s memory are her son, Roger (Charlene) Johnson, daughter, Diana Caparell, 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

Irene lived in Germany where she met her husband, Richard, who was stationed there in the United States Air Force. When his term ended in the mid 1950's, the family relocated to the United States. She was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church, where she also sang in the choir, and St. Anthony Parish.  Irene was a devout Catholic, attending Mass daily at various churches with her children. 

She worked for RACO for many years and was a Union Rep for a period of time. Irene was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and sewing for them. Irene also enjoyed being with her family at the lake cottage during summer weekends. Irene’s life was dedicated to her family.

Per her wishes, no services will be held.
