Guadalupe "Taz" Salinas, Jr.

Guadalupe "Taz" Salinas, Jr., 65 years old, peacefully passed away on October 16, 2024 at Wellbrooke of South Bend.

Lupe was born on December 24, 1958, in Houston, TX to Jesus G. Valdez and the late Rita T. (Torres) Valdez, who passed on February 16, 2024.

Lupe was survived by eight children, acknowledged by five, Jennifer Salinas, Trisha Salinas, Veronica Salinas, Heather Lu and his step-daughter, Teresa Cruz; sisters, Hazel Salinas and Norma (Ramon) Deleon; and brothers, Ernesto, David and Christobal Gaytan.

Lupe was a hard-working man. He loved his sports; and enjoyed playing football in high school. Lupe was a graduate of Washington High School. He played baseball for the Mexican American League the Angels. After he played baseball, he started umpiring.

Lupe worked at AM General, and retired from Lippert Components in December of 2023. Lupe loved spending time with his family, and his weekends with his cousins. The time he spent with his nephew, "Javier Estrada" was priceless. The family would get together at his parents' house to play cards or Chalupa, it was a blast. He had many nephews and nieces that he loved. Lupe is going to be missed, but never forgotten. He was also a big Dallas Cowboys fan.

Visitation for Lupe will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 24, 2024, with a Prayer Service at 6:00 pm all at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S Mayflower Rd, South Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, October 25, 2024, at St. Casimir Catholic Church, 1308 Dunham St., South Bend. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
