Geraldine "Gerry" B (Martynowicz) Sobecki

Geraldine “Gerry” B Sobecki, 95 years old, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Healthwin in South Bend.

Gerry was born on August 6, 1929 in South Bend, to the late Wallace and Marie (Szumnarski) Martynowicz. On June 3, 1950, at St. Casimir Catholic Church, Gerry married the love of her life, Edward V Sobecki, who passed away in 1993. She is also preceded in death by her grandson, Evan Sobecki.

Left to cherish their memories of Gerry are her daughter, Sharon (Kevin) Toth, Kenneth (Lynn) Sobecki, and Greg (Diana) Sobecki; grandchildren: Brian (Renae) Sobecki, Eric (Tatum) Sobecki, Justin (Katie) Sobecki, Ryan (Alysen) Sobecki, Adam (Erin) Sobecki, Kyle (Kate) Toth, and Chelsea (Abraham) Maxfield; great-grandchildren, Connor, Carter, Wesley, Allie, Claire, Evelyn, Isaac, Wesley, Alexander, Bennett, Charlotte, Jack, Maren, and Lenna. Gerry is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Gerry formerly co-owned Sal Langner’s Market of South Bend with her husband and brother-in-law. She was a former parishioner of St. Casimir Catholic Church. She loved her neighbors and spending time at Little Fish Lake, and she also loved to bake. Above all, she loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank Healthwin for their wonderful care that Gerry received.

Friends and family will be received from 10:00am-12:00pm Friday, August 30, 2024 at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S Mayflower Rd, South Bend, IN, with a funeral service to be held at 12:00pm at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at a later time at St. Joseph Cemetery in South Bend.
