George Carpenter Obituary

George Martin Gerard Carpenter, 74, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Center for Hospice Care Raclin House.

George was born on March 18, 1951 in Danville, IL to the late George and Lorraine (Lete) Carpenter. He is also preceded on death by a son, Brian Carpenter; brother, Joseph Carpenter

Left to cherish the memory of George are his children, Matthew Carpenter, Cynthia (Michael) Goodreau; grandchildren, Reymond Ponce, Micheal Goodreu, Faith Ponce; great-granddaughter, Liliann Shreves; sisters, Karen (Jim) Smith, Mary Elliot, Barbara (Terry) Guinn, Nora (Robert) Setser; brother, Carl (Shery) Carpenter.

George honorable served his country in Vietnam. He was a member of the Hall of hero’s museum. George enjoyed tai chi, reiki, reading comic, playing board games with his grandchildren, listening to Willie Nelson. He volunteered at the hall of heroes, where he met up with his friend George Filippello for lunch every Wednesday, and then stopped at Buy Me Toy for comic books.

Visitation for George will be 2:00 pm to 4:00pm on Friday, May 23, 2025 with a Funeral Service to begin at 4:00 pm in St. Joseph Funeral Home. 824 S. Mayflower Rd., South Bend, In.
