Fred Wolak

Fred Wolak, 83 years old, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 8, 2023 in his residence in South Bend.

Fred was born on August 11, 1940 in South Bend, the late Walter & Henrietta (Kurlanski) Wolak. He is also preceded in death by his grandson, Adam Knapp; and stepdaughter, Theresa Sommer.

On November 16, 1991 Fred married the love of his life, Janice (Hojara) Wolak, she survives along with his granddaughter, Amie (Dan)Krawiec; sister, Joan (Dean) Cooper; nephew, Mark (Bonnie) Elledge, Donald (Mindy) Elledge; along with other family members, especially his niece, Melissa Baker and cousin, Edward Barkala who Fred was very close to; and Freds four-legged buddies, Precious and Riley.

Fred graduated from Central High School and went onto the field of selling steel for Alro Steel.  He then retired from T.K Steel in 2020.  Fred was a very social guy, he loved spending time with his friends, whether it was watching ND Football, the Cubs, golfing, bowling, or just sitting and talking having some Miller Lites. Most of all he enjoyed sitting in his chair watching court TV, and his favorite, Family Feud.  He will be extremely missed by all.

Funeral arrangements have been trusted to St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN.
