Eugenia M (Grayson) Granger

Eugenia M. Granger, 84 years old, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022 in the Woodland Manor Nursing Home in Elkhart, IN.

Eugenia was born on February 26, 1938 in Royal Oak, MI to the late Leonard C. and Margaret Mary (Kerr) Grayson.  Eugenia married Rodney J. Granger in March of 1957; he preceded her in death. Eugenia is also preceded in death by her sister, Sarah (Grayson) Sherman; brother, Leonard Grayson and sister-in-law, Margaret Grayson.

Left to cherish their memories of Eugenia are her children, Leslie (Henry) Parakowski and David (Cindy) Granger; grandchildren, John Henry Parakowski, Tracy (Andy) Williams, Stacey (David) Floran, Joey (Jessica) Granger, Brittany Granger; great-grandson, Mitchell Floran; great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn Williams, Macey O'Connell, Marin Floran, and Kaylin and Charlotte Granger; and her brother-in-law, Mike Sherman.

Eugenia was a bookkeeper, homemaker, and a great seamstress - she even made Leslie’s prom dresses that fit to a T.  She enjoyed painting with oil, acrylics and water colors, drawing with pastels and charcoal, tole painting, along with gardening and making flower arrangements. Eugenia was a great cook and made incredible thanksgiving dinners; even when living in Oregon she cooked a turkey in a wood burning stove. Eugenia was a good mother, very outgoing and a determined woman; she was even able to convince the county to tar their gravel road while living in Oregon.

Eugenia and Rodney attended school together at Dondero High School in Royal Oak, MI. She and her family built an A-Frame cabin in Oregon and renovated their cottage on Magician Lake, MI, where she enjoyed going out on the paddleboat. Eugenia and Rodney were venerable bridge players who were ranked, and she was held in high regard by those around her-always ready to help others. She will be truly missed.

Friends and family will be received Friday, November 18, 2022, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road South Bend, IN 46619 with a funeral service to be held at 12:00pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
