Elizabeth “Betty Ann” H. (Koscielski) Griffin

Elizabeth Helen Griffin, 89, passed away peacefully at her home with her daughter, Lisa, by her side on Saturday, June 6, 2026. She was born on September 15, 1936, in South Bend, Indiana to Adam and Helen (Gadacz) Koscielski, both whom preceded her in death.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Lisa Griffin of South Bend, IN; son, Timothy (Marlena) Griffin of San Carlos, CA; four grandchildren, Madigan, Daniel, Adam and Cara Griffin; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marya Elen Griffin; two brothers, Dr. Stanley Koscielski and Chester Koscielski; and four sisters, Alice Lesniewski, Genevieve Koscielski, Jeanette Zakrzewski and Carol Koscielski.

Elizabeth graduated from Central High School and continued her education at Holy Cross School of Nursing of South Bend, IN, Loyola University of Chicago, IL, University of Notre Dame of Notre Dame, IN and Catholic University of Washington, D.C.

She served as a school nurse, as an instructor of nursing and as a supervisor. She loved her patients and students as they loved her in return.

A private mass and burial were held according to Elizabeth’s wishes. Contributions in memory of Elizabeth may be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Inc., 501 St Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
