Originally Dorothy was an active member of the former St. Stephen Parish until their closing of the school, she then went to St. Adalbert Parish where her three youngest children finished their elementary schooling.
She became active in many church offices and functions; partook in a Cursillo and then became active in the Legion of Mary. Also served as a Eucharist Minister and was very active in the St. Vincent DePaul Society for many, many years. She was very honored to receive their most prestigious volunteer award, “The Top Hat”. And was also a member and an officer of the Rosary Sodality at the St. Adalbert’s Parish.
Dorothy was a weekly volunteer at the West Bend Nursing Home for their rosary and mass services. While there, she took pleasure in decorating their chapel for special occasions and bringing the residents baked treats.
Socially she was a member of the Harvest House and Hoosier Grandmothers. In her spare time, she was an avid reader and took pleasure in working word search books and coloring in the detailed pictures, many of which were frame-worthy.
She found great joy and pleasure in all of her kids and grandkids. And hosted many occasions and holidays in her home, preparing all the dishes they like to eat. She was also a den mother for the scouts for two years.
After being a stay-at-home mom for many years, Dorothy decided to do something else. She worked part time at the former Progressive Bakery on Western Ave for several years, until retirement.
Enjoyed visiting several countries in Europe on two different occasions with Louie, her husband, especially to Oberammergau, Germany where the Passion is performed every ten years.
She also cared for three adults’ family members needing care and took them in her home, especially one that needed long term care, all done with love and compassion.
She is predeceased in death by her husband, Louis, who passed away November 2018, as well as her parents, John and Rose Adamski; brother, Ben Adamski; sisters, Florence Brzezkinski, Theresa Sniadecki, and Emilie Miller. Her sister, Annette Fujawa survives as well as many nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are her children, David (Camille), Denis (Catherine), Darryl (Karen), Yolanda (Chris) Hahn, Don (Kathy), Dominic (Sue), Cynthia Prater and Dan (Denise); as well as 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was married to Louis Demeter on February 15, 1947 at St. Adalbert’s Parish and enjoyed 71 years of marriage prior to his passing.
