Diana Jackson Obituary

Diana Karen Jackson, affectionately known as "Nana," passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024, on her 70th birthday, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. Born in South Bend on September 20, 1954, to the late Eliza Ruth (Nowlin) Moore and John William Moore, Diana was a beacon of love, compassion, and resilience in her community.

Diana graduated from LaSalle High School in 1972 and went on to earn her Bachelor's degree. A dedicated certified health care provider, she spent two decades serving at St. Joseph Care Center West and another twenty years at Logan Center before retiring. Her life's work was centered on care, but her impact extended far beyond her professional life.

Known as a pillar of her community, Diana believed that family was not defined by blood but by love. To her, everyone she met was family, and her home was always open to those in need. Whether offering a kind word, a meal, or a place to stay, Diana took people in with open arms, and her nurturing spirit touched countless lives. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering faith will forever be remembered by all who knew her.

In addition to her love for people, Diana cherished the simple joys in life. She was a devoted fan of Notre Dame football and shared many memories watching the games with her loved ones. She found peace in the outdoors, whether it was fishing at the lake, enjoying nature, or working on DIY projects around the house. Diana also had a passion for knitting, often creating handmade gifts for her family and friends. Her clients, who she treated like family, held a special place in her heart and she always went the extra mile to care for them.

Left to cherish Diana’s memory are her beloved husband, Lonnie Darnell Jackson of South Bend; daughter, Jennifer Rebecca Williamson of South Bend; sons, Derek Nowlin Jackson of South Bend, Adam Darnell Jackson and wife Natasha of Georgetown, Colorado, and Aaron Matthew Jackson of South Bend; her brothers, J.C. John Collier Moore of South Bend, James William Moore and wife Sue Ranker Moore of Florence, Wisconsin, and Dale Charles Moore of Charlotte, North Carolina. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Jenneisha Chanel Glover, Titus Dwayne Glover, Ivory Kailyn Jackson, Khalil Jackson, Soren Jet Jackson, and Audiel Reyn Jackson, and great-grandchildren, Brayon, Braeshaun, and Nashaun.

Diana was preceded in death by her parents, her brother David Paul Moore, and her grandson Kyler Nowlin Jackson.

Diana’s love for her family and community, her strong faith, and her passion for helping others will never be forgotten. She was the foundation upon which many lives were built, and her memory will remain an everlasting source of strength and inspiration for those she leaves behind.
