Delphine P. Mutchler

Delphine P. Mutchler, 87, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Brookdale Granger.

Delphine was born in South Bend on June 18, 1937, to the late Mary (Frasz) Nowak and Stanley Nowak.  On August 22, 1964, Delphine married Robert “Bob” L. Mutchler, who passed away in January of 2004.

Delphine graduated from Washington High School in 1956. She worked for A-1 Printers for 35 years as a typist and receptionist. She then went to work for Broadway Theatre League as a box office manager until retiring in 2000. She had most recently worked part time at Morris Theatre in the box office. She was a member of St. Patrick’s and St. Hedwig’s Catholic Churches. Delphine enjoyed gardening, doing yardwork, antiquing, and going to art shows. She was known for being a very hard worker and a devout Catholic.

Left to cherish the memories of Delphine are her nieces and nephews, Mark (Kum Son) Moran, Brian (Nancy) Moran, Maureen (Duane) Jozwiakowski, John Kevin (Paula) Moran, Michael (Jane) Moran, Colleen Moran, Brendan (Karen) Moran, Julie (Albert) Dozier, Sandra (Timothy) Molloy; first cousin, Fides Saltzgaber; two very dear friends, Arthur O’Chap, and Sharon Turner.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Rita Moran, and a brother-in-law, John Moran.

We wish to extend our deep appreciation to all of the staff at Brookdale Granger and Heart to Heart Hospice who rendered tender care to Delphine over the last five months.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 27, 2024, in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 309 S. Taylor Street, South Bend, with a one-hour visitation prior to the Mass in the church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made in honor of Delphine to St. Patrick’s and St. Hedwig’s Parish or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 5501 N. Cumberland Ave. #101 Chicago, IL 60656.
