Delphine Ladewski Obituary

Delphine Therese Ladewski, 95, passed away Tuesday January 23, 2024 in Unionville Missouri.

Delphine was born September 29th,1928 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Casimer and Frances (Dolniak) Skowronski.

Delphine was married to Joseph Ladewski who proceeded her in death. Delphine was later engaged to Clem Sniadecki who proceeds her in death. She was also proceeded in death by her parents and her beloved sister, Loretta (Skowronski) Zygulski.

Delphine worked as a meter maid in the early 1960’s and wanted to become a Police woman, even taking Judo lessons. The meter maids were able to free up police officers for actual police work and were so efficient and successful at writing tickets that they wrote more than 7000 tickets in the first three months of 1963.

Delphine also worked as a receptionist and medical assistant to Dr. Filipek, Dr. Jankowski, Dr. Dawn Fairley, and Dr. June Cook. Every patient that came through the doors of the doctor's offices adored Delphine. Delphine was a very caring and loving person, never afraid to give anyone a hug or kiss. Also, quite the jokester and known by those who love her, very ornery, Delphine loved being around people.

Delphine loved her many dogs starting with Jenny, her first dog, and ending with Clara, her very faithful dog in Unionville. They were her babies through the years.

Delphine and Joseph were very active at American Legion post 357 in South Bend and enjoyed dancing on Saturday nights.

Delphine is survived by her beloved God Daughter (cousin, but always referred to as Great Niece) Sharon (Cybulski) Yant as well as by nieces Mary Jane McCarthy, Nancy Michalski, and Sophie Chrobot, Nephews Joseph and James Csabi, cousin Mary Jo Harmon, Jim Sabinas, Dennis Cybulski and a very special friend and son of Clem, Dennis Sniadecki.

Also surviving are her wonderful neighbors from South Bend, IN, Dale and Vicki Gerbasich.

Delphine moved to Unionville, Missouri in 2019. She made many friends in Unionville and was cared for by Dr. Dawn Fairley and Partner, Brian Keedy. Dawn was like a daughter to Delphine since beginning work together in Dawn’s medical clinic in 1986. She watched Dawn’s children Jeremy and Danielle grow up, mentored them and considered them her grandchildren. She quickly “adopted” Brian as a “son” as well.

Delphine was always concerned with the welfare of others over herself. Despite this she frequently referred to herself as “a big pain in the dupa”.

A bright light and kind, giving soul went out of this world with her passing.
