David M Turk

David M. Turk, 60, passed away of natural causes unexpectedly at home on Sunday, June 25, 2023.

David was born on May 04, 1963 in South Bend to Robert & Patricia (Cooreman) Turk.  He was preceded in death by his father, Robert.

Left to cherish the memory of David is his loving wife, Rebecca; his mother, Patricia Turk; sons, Robert, Ryan, and Michael Turk of South Bend, and David Turk of Wisconsin; daughter, Melissa (Chris) Paulson of Minnesota; grandson, James Paulson; brothers, Robert (Kathy) Turk, Ray (Brenda Fack) Turk; a sister, Areta (Todd) Skwarcan;  sister-in-law, Mary (Scott) Naragon; father-in-law, Steve (Mary) Moser; nephews, Brandon, Ike, Conner; and nieces, Gabrielle, Alina, Catelyn.

David was a 1981 graduate of New Prairie High School.  He proudly served on the South Bend Police Department for over 32 years, retiring January 23, 2020. David took pride in his job and how he treated everyone he came into contact with. He also volunteered as a crossing guard for Success Academy, providing snacks, conversation, and treating all the children as if they were his own. David loved spending time outdoors, gardening, hunting & fishing, and working on the family farm. He was a drone pilot and avid photographer. David had a wealth of knowledge and could talk for hours, while making you feel like you were the most important person around in that moment. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family. His sense of humor and giving heart will be forever missed. 

Friends and family will be received 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, June 30, 2023 in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN 46619.  A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 1, 2023 in the Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
