David Alan Roeder, Sr.

David Alan Roeder, Sr., 77, passed away on Sunday, January 04, 2026.

David was born on October 16, 1948 in South Bend, IN to Omar and Genevieve "Jean" (Wagenka) Roeder. On October 10, 2010, David married the love of his life, Benita Ford, who survives. David is preceded in death by his parents, Genevieve "Jean" & Omar Roeder, and daughter-in-law, Norma “Mechi” Roeder.

Left to cherish David’s memory are his wife, Benita (Ford-Fleck) Roeder; sons, David (Africa) Roeder, Jr., Richard Roeder, Brian Roeder; 1 granddaughter and 4 grandsons, 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Linda (Nathaniel Jr.) Waddell; nephew, Billy Presley and a very special niece, April Brooks, who he referred to as the daughter he never had; step-children, Angela Fleck, Chrstopher Fleck, and Jennifer Fleck; and 4 step-grandchildren; and his two precious fur babies, Jose Cuervo and Jim Beam.

David graduated from Central High School, class of 1968. He worked for St. Joseph Hospital and Sears in his younger years.  After high school he became employed by RACO, where he made many friends over the 40 years he worked there. David was an avid Notre Dame football fan and loved the opportunity to usher for home games. He also was a Chicago White Sox and Bears fan. 

Friends and family will be received Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 4:00 PM - 7:00 pm at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road South Bend, IN 46619. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 309 S. Taylor Street, South Bend, IN 46601. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in South Bend, IN.
